read this on a site. www.savegof.com/
and I think that we all should do it.
"As many of you have heard, Warner Brothers is asking screenwriter Steve Kloves for a single two-and-a-half hour movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. A large number of you seem to think this is a HUGE mistake. In support of keeping the book's storyline from being butchered by such a short film, a group of us have decided to take action. Our goal is to change the minds of those at Warner Brothers, and make them see that Goblet of Fire needs either one long film version or two shorter ones.
In the 1960's, a group of dedicated fans started a letter-writing campaign to have their favorite television show renewed for a third season. With their persistance, the network acquiesced and the show continued. Even though it was cancelled after that season, it had filmed enough episodes to be eligible for syndication, where it found a new audience and became immensely popular around the world. That show was named Star Trek.
There are millions of Harry Potter fans out there. If a small number of Star Trek fans changed one network's mind, then imagine what we could do! Write a letter to Warner Brothers, sign the petition, and tell your fellow fans! We CAN make a difference!
Thank you for your support!"

"We now have two different letters that can be printed off and sent to Warner Brothers. Remember, letters are a very important part of this campaign!
As supporter Denise stated in an e-mail to us:
"I just signed the petition tonight (#10,749), and I have to say, thank you very much for creating this. In fact, I did not know about WB's plans to mutilate GoF into so short of a movie until running across your press release, so you have really done an excellent job in getting the word out.
I was wondering if you knew how effective on-line petitions are. Obviously you have gotten a great many signatures and will doubtless get thousands more, but I'm not sure how seriously WB would take it. I have been told that with politicians, one sent letter is counted as the voice of 800 people, and therefore will have more weight with that politician than an e-mail. I know you provide a form letter on your site, which I intend to print off and mail at least three times. Perhaps you should consider placing more emphasis on the written word--10,749 abstract signatures do carry weight, of course, but 10,749 letters on the desk of WB would create a bigger headache--and more of a will to cooperate with fans.
Thank you very much for what you have done, and I hope that we are successful in making WB see 'the error of its ways'."
As a point of clarification, the petition will be mailed by postal courier (aka snail mail), not e-mail. However, we do need to send thousands of letters! So start writing!"
